Got major shit today for calling out from Jim; no big surprise.

"I'm scheduled from 9-12, won't be in."
"What's up with that?"
"...I'd be getting paid 19 for 5 hours of my time, including commute, and I'm working tomorrow 9-5, going to my other job 6-10, and coming back to borders and working till 2 AM on the Twilight release party."
"What's that got to do with today?"
"I'm not wasting my time coming in when I could have the day off before the hell that will be tomorrow."
"You're just telling me this now?"
"No, I told you on Tuesday that Caitlin was taking the shift, but she had to cancel for a school thing last night."
"...Oh, right. I remember you saying that."

Sorry he's peeved. What's he going to do, fire me? (Cue laugh track.)

Kitty is home an doing very well. She's starting to wake up and show an interest in her surroundings, even if she does still pass out for long periods. Her personality is also reverting to normal. (She's in my lap purring up a storm RIGHT NOW.)

Saw Watchmen last night. I realized when I couldn't get through the previews without wanting to blog that I Have A Problem.

Non-Spoilery: Meh.

More details back here.Collapse )

So I had an extra ten minutes this morning which I kind of halfheartedly pumped into "Check the real people ElJay" time. XD;;; I'm a good person, really.

Work has been just absolutely ridiculous, and getting moreso every passing second. Today I got to see a walking, talking (well, hacking, vomiting) drug overdose in progress. I mean, I've seen plenty of drug overdoses, but I've never seen one up and walking around. It was special. This was also the week of the drunk customer bitching at me that Robert Jordan hadn't published a new book in over a year ("Sir, Robert Jordan is dead. (Aside to Cody as the customer collapses in grief) Shit, no one tell him about Terry Prachett!") and the shoplifter whose excuse for walking out of the store with a bagful of product was "The polar bears are drowning!"

On top of that I STILL don't have a schedule for next week when I start the new job, but it looks like my weekends will now be Wednesday-Thursday. That's fine. I didn't ever want to actually see anyone again, really. Despite my asking for 32 hours, I'm still scheduled for 40. (With my manager going, "You know, you need to understand how difficult it is for me to schedule you this many hours when you keep adding conflicts to your availability." To which, "I DON'T WANT THIS MANY HOURS" seems to have no effect. I think the problem may be that we're speaking different languages. Or that when I talk, all he hears is the teacher noise from Charlie Brown.

On the bright side, Regent the Lion is only $2.50 and he now lives with Chaucer the Bear and Pedro the Raccoon on my dresser. XD;;;

The computer is deceased. Same problem as before; the motherboard is pooched. They're sending her back for assesment, and then I either get a new one or they "repair" her again. I use the term "repair" lightly, since they didn't do so hot a job of it the first time. le sigh.

So yeah, if you need to get ahold of me, the telephone or text. Blaaaaah.

45,000 words. Off to finish!

Clearly, with my limited intarwebz, there's nothing better for me to do with my time than memes.

Another one of those 'hundred books' things.Collapse )

Commonly confused words test, which would more correctly be labled the commonly confused grammar test and uses incorrect grammar.Collapse )

Dorrie meme. I had to.Collapse )

Last night I got Coram back into one piece, which is a huge relief. [Neal says yeah, no shit.] it took some finaggling -- I got him strung, and he was suddenly so tight that I couldn't get the force to pull his s-hook into his head. This was about when I punched myself in the eye, which was exciting. I ended up unstringing his legs, hooking his head in, and then going back and doing each leg. It worked fine, except that now he's REALLY tight. I mourn the loss of my floppy boy! I suppose this is better, though, because he actually HOLDS the awesome poses I cajole him into.

Now he just needs a face-up and his torso re-dyed, and he'll be... what's the word? Oh, right, AMAZING.

Today I made chicken stew! From absolute scratch, for the first time. I am ridiculously proud of myself, since it was mostly leftovers and I didn't follow any set recipe, just basically went, "Uhhhhhhhh... *dumps in pot*" It turned out really well, though -- the gravy didn't lump up or anything. And now I've got rediculous amounts of stew stowed in the fridge, which means that dinner is taken care of for at least a couple days. *dances*

Also tracked down my W2s. ONe, at least, I can go pick up tomorrow -- of course, the one I need appears to have been lost in the beaurocracy of Brookline Village Hall. >.< Waiting for a call back when they find it -- otherwise we get to play this game again tomorrow.

Two more job apps in, and an interview at Anthro tomorrow. SOMEONE'S got to hire me. This is getting rediculous. >.

Quick Weekend Update [Feb. 24th, 2008|01:11 pm]
Weekend in brief:

+ Little Dude is fine (Brat)
+ No job bites. -.-
+ Sushi with Brendan (Yum!)
+ Final Fanatasy VII
+ iTunes re-organization (1500 songs left, woot)
+ Laundry
+ Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego?
+ S-Hooks for Coram! (Though they're bigger than I wanted, and really hard to manipulate. Contemplating jury-rigging him, because this is getting rediculous. I want my baby back! [Neal concurs.])
+ Ice Cream it sounds so dirty now with Emma
+70 minute shifts that I get paid 4 hours for.

Speaking of, I have to be at the maj in 39 minutes. It's interesting how I haven't done that yet.

Up for next weekend:
+ Reading "Jude the Obscure" (Shoot me)
+ whataspacecase! ♥

Yeah, I should do that "job" thing. Monies are good.
